And in a flash of light, Emma was gone.

When read together this chapter and the previous chapter's titles read Deus Ex Machina because of how the situation resolves itself. According to the TV Tropes definition, a Deus ex Machina is a solution which fixes an unsolvable/hopeless situation, which fits. The other part of the definition is that a Deus ex Machina is sudden/unexpected and you'll have to be the judge of if that part of the definition fits.

The biggest part of why I called the two chapters Deus ex Machina, though, is that back in Ancient Greek theatre Gods and Goddesses would come in a set things right at the eleventh hour and that's essentially what happens here. While Enya won because she didn't fight fair, she still has some god-like powers and is the only person currently capable of ending Emma's fun (Emma had god-like powers, too). I hope it's pretty obvious by her expression that Enya is not happy about the way things ended. There's, also, going to be some hefty consequences to what just went down but those will come up later.

I really wish I could turn out pages more quickly. We're drawing rapidly nearer to something super exciting. I know it's been a really slow burn up until now and I really appreciate everyone who has made it this far! There's still 8 pages left in the chapter and two more chapters before "things" happen. You've already made it half way through the story as far as the page count is concerned and I hope you're willing to stick around for what's to come.

Just a reminder, it's about a week until I'll be back online.

Whoa! This was sudden!
I expected some retaliation :D

Though she saved them, I am not sure if I can trust her...

There will come a time when Enya's intentions will be obvious. Until then, I'm glad that her motives are noticeably unclear. She's probably one of the harder characters to write for because there's a balancing act in what she can and cannot reveal to the audience. And she's also very careful with her words, so I often reference a thesaurus to make sure her lines have the intended meaning. Though she's not the only one I use a thesaurus with.

Artistically whether you intended it or not the contrast of this page to the previous page is magnificent. the sudden change of colours from blues to yellow-golds on this page drives an energetic impact.

I wish that I could draw faster too. For the exact same reasons as yours.

Thanks so much! I only intended it as much as I purposefully chose complimentary colors for certain character abilities. Everything else was a happy accident. :)

That's an amazing thing to hear! I'd love to see this all as a movie! Thanks so much! XD

I really hope I can finish the second half in a timely manner. Although it is still a couple of years away, I'm still worried about the impact that grad school will have on the end of the story.

Woahhh. So that's what Enya had up her sleeves...(Is Adrik in that blast that consumed Emma? It looked like a part of his energy is involved, I suppose if he can separate from it and lend it to someone independently without harming himself that would work to his advantage.) Wow. The atmosphere of this fight was well executed, and the jump between this page and last readers really nice.

I'm definitely sticking around! :D This is beautiful...

(Also this is a bit terrible but I had one of these toys in my hand a few weeks ago and I thought of Emma. This is kind of what happened to her)

If that's the toy video I think it is... Lol XD (internet here and the video are not cooperating)

Adrik is in the blast but isn't separated from the energy. Enya basically used him as a headache distraction so Emma wouldn't know what was coming. He didn't come away from the blast unscathed though but it won't be too immediately apparent. Enya has good aim but all that energy she generates can only be concentrated into an area so small, and he was in the blast radius.
